The Paper Shelter (TPS) Challenge #93 - Anything Goes

Christmas is near & it's my favourite holiday of the year. Since it doesn't ever snow in Singapore... I guess a snow globe kinda makes me fantasize about a land covered with beautiful, pure whiteness.  So here's a shaker - snow globe card that I made. Let's shake things up this holiday season! (^V^)

I decided to use the beautifully coloured "There's a penguin in my Cocoa" image & background. I love the colour & the penguin is Oh So cute! Just makes me want to give it a big cuddly hug.

1st, I printed my image then I printed the background separately. To make my snow globe, I used the Spellbinders Standard circle LG die (The largest one) & traced out the outside parameter of the circle & drew in a simple base for the snow globe. Cut out the shape of the snow globe & then glue it in the center of my printed background.

I need to make hole in the snow globe so that the image would be seen. So, I carefully taped (with removable tape) the same circle die onto the snow globe & ran it thru my die cut machine so that I'm left with the silhouette of the snow globe which is securely glued onto my 6x6" background.

Using the circle template that I just cut out from the snow globe, I traced onto my image so that I know where to put the foam tape. Then I lined the foam tape around my pencil drawn line & poured heart shape sequins in. Glue a piece of acetate to conceal the sequins. Now, I positioned the image to be aligned with the snow globe silhouette piece I had earlier on top of the image & glue them together.

Then I cut out a 8x8" pistachio coloured CS & made a box with no lid, just 4 flaps at the side & a thickness of 3mm (same thickness as the foam tape) & glue the snow globe shaker piece on top. Opps.... I hope you guys r not lost trying to understand what I'm saying. It's really hard trying to put this down in words without showing you. :(

Finally, made a simple card & glue the box like shaker snow globe down on the front of the card & decorated the inside of the card.

I added Tattered Angels-Glimmer Glam (Colour: Chandelier) on the actetate. To make the acetate look like uneven hand-blown glass. Can you see?

The Paper Shelter (TPS) Challenge #91 - Birthdays

The card
I've been dying to use this cute image from TPS, License to Frost. She's so adorable & is wonderful for a birthday card. I wanted the card to have a fun & joyous feel to it so how can we cannot do without banners & cupcakes, right? I also added different elements such as hand-stitching, red metallic pearl strings, printed transparency & pom pom ribbons to give the card more texture.

The Paper Shelter (TPS) Challenge #89 - Fairies & Elves

Fairies & Elves is the theme for this week's challenge. I know I wanted the card to look cheery & bright so I chose to work with pretty reds, pinks, yellows & greens. I made a circle easel card out of Spellbinders - Grand nestabilities dies & chose to colour TPS's image - Fairies Tea Party. Here's how my card looks!

The circle easel card

For this card, I most proud of the background that I've created. :) I wanted to create a feeling that the fairy & elf are having tea in a beautiful & most magical place on earth. I thought that it will be cool to let the background seems as if they were sitting below a rainbow. However, you'll not see the actual rainbow but only the reflection of its array of colours.

The fun & colourful toadstools

The Paper Shelter (TPS) Challenge #87 - Halloween

This is my 1st time doing a halloween card. People here don't really celebrate Halloween. I'm honestly clueless about what I'm going to do so I decided to just focus on the colouring of the images this week. I combined 2 images this week. They are "Was Not Me!" & "Miss Halloween". I used Photoshop program to flip the "Miss Halloween" image so that she looks like she's sweeping up the mess the naughty little kitty cat did & erased the inappropriate areas where the 2 images meet. E.g. her shoe & the pot.
I challenged myself by colouring them in a dark hues which typically is not my style. Took me a much longer time to finish them as I kept going back & forth about my choice of colours :P

Miss Halloween

With the Copic Multiliner 0.1 & 0.3, I drew fishnet stocking for "Miss Halloween" to give her a sexier look.

The spiderweb & spiders

I wanted to draw cute, fluffy spiders & I did it with 2 shades of grey, W7 & W9. & added white dots with a white gel pen for their eyes & used Copic Multiliner 0.1 to give them their eyes & legs. Added glossy accent to give it a "Googly eye" effect. As for the spiderweb, I just drew it with Copic Multiliner 0.1.

The little kitty cat

I gave the cat a stripes of a different colour to give it some character.

The spilled mixture & Pot

Coloured all the brass items with a hint of BG72 to give it an aged look. Mimicking patina on metal.
I wanted the spilled mixture to look yucky so coloured it in a dark turquoise colour & added a little pink, yellow & a fluorescent yellow, FYG1 to give it highlight. Covered it with glossy accent. It makes u wonder, what on earth was in that concoction... heehee

The background

The background is really interesting because I wanted it to look dreamy & slightly mysterious so I coloured the background with BG70 on the top & BV31 on the bottom of the card. Then, I used my colourless blender refill "O" & deliberately drip various droplet sizes on my coloured background. I had to be very careful not to drip too near to my images as it will react with the colours. I had a tissue next to me just in case it happened. :P On the whole, I liked the way it turned out. :D
